Not So Frequently-Asked Questions
Q. Who is Great Scott the Robot?
A. Great Scott the Robot is a robot who goes about his business on Earth just as any human would, except people seem not to question his actions much. For example, why was he allowed a shot at the presidency?
Q. Where did his name come from?
A. A tourist was touring through a US park one summer, and marveled at a piece of public art that was the form of a robot. When the tourist poked at the robot's helmet, the statue seemed to wake up. The frightened tourist exclaimed "Great Scott!" and jumped back, pointing at the metal man, "The robot!" Those were the first words our dear Great Scott had ever heard, and he claimed them as his own name.
The real story of how he got his name: He's a robot. I thought of Good Gravy, but Great Scott sounded better. Scott is a real name. Plus the name sounds good with "robot."
Q. Why does he look different from image to image?
A. Because I like to change it up. No one established a law saying all robots must be founded on a basis model and represented accurately and in exactly the same way in every drawing. I can do what I want (within reason). So can Great Scott. And so can you.
Fly away my creative and artistic darlings. Color outside the lines. Draw outside the box. Make all the dinosaurs blue and all the brick houses green. Make doors upside down and put roller skates on all the refrigerators. Make four levels of gravity and do away with entropy and inertia. The coolest thing about being creative is that there are no laws.
